GetFit Running Programs Spring, Summer 2010

This eight-week training program is designed to prepare adults to run their first 5K (3.1 miles) race. We will meet for eight consecutive Thursdays beginning April 15 at 7 p.m. Our first meeting will be at Reeves Park. After the eight weeks of group trainings, we will participate in a 5K race in King of Prussia on June 6. Our weekly meetings will take place at various parks and loops in the Phoenixville/Valley Forge area. Each person will participate in the development of his/her individualized training program based on starting fitness level and goals. Runners will track their progress on training logs provided by the instructor. Each session will include warm-up, a group walk-run, a group question-and-answer period, and presentation on the running topic of the night. Participants will need to train on their own at least two to three other times during the week. This is a great way to have fun, socialize, get in shape, and lay the foundation for a fitness program to last a lifetime! Note: In adddition to the course registration fee, participants will need to pay the cost of the 5K registration fee, which is approximately $20.

Get set to start a healthy exercise routine and run your first 5K. The program description is the same as the Spring 2010 program listed above. The Summer progam will be held for eight consecutive Thursdays at 7 p.m. beginning August 5. The class culminates with the group participating in the Kimberton Run 5K race on September 25. Note: The cost of the training class does not include the cost of the race registration.
